Stochastic Goal Recognition Design (S-GRD)

Goal Recognition is the ability to recognize the goal of an agent based on the observation of its actions; it is equivalent to what we (humans) do to infer other people’s minds and thoughts by observing their behavior in various contexts. Goal Recognition Design (GRD) is an offline problem whose objective is to achieve a faster goal recognition by redesigning the original environment such that an agent operating in that environment is forced to reveal its goal as early as possible.

We used goal recognition to prevent runway incursions by detecting pilot deviations from the assigned taxiing route. The video below explains the project and you can download the paper here.
